Introduction:
Children will be introduced to Art at 6 years old, learning about shapes, mixing colors and techniques like printing. As they progress through their artistic education, they’ll learn more about the history of art, famous artists and styles of art and design. At the same time, they’ll be developing their skills in a range of artistic techniques like drawing, painting and illustration.

Allowing children to explore different artistic styles and develop a personal taste. There are no formal assessments for this subject, ensuring children can grow as artists in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Experiencing is a fun part of the artistic process, where children will come up with ideas for their artwork and experiment to find what they like and don’t like.

Younger children might be encouraged to explore the world around them or focus on things they experience through their senses. Older children can explore different art, media and technologies from different times and cultures. Students should record their experiences and use them to inform their work.

To develop children’s technical skills and equip them with the artistic knowledge they need to progress onto Lower Secondary Art and Design. Children will be introduced to crafts, drawing, painting, printing, and more!

Learning to create a piece of artwork is a fantastic skill for children, which they will use throughout their lives. Not only will Art and Design lessons improve children’s creativity and imagination, but art can also be therapeutic, helping them to relax and calm down.

What’s more, for young children starting out on their schooling journey, Art and Design can help them to practice key skills like coordination, pencil control and fine motor skills. These will help them to excel in lots of subjects like English, Music and Physical Education.

Plus, Art and Design projects can help children to become independent thinkers who learn to solve their own problems and use their initiative. Children will feel a sense of achievement when they see their finished piece.
